The Harambee Ujima Black Arts Festival was founded to celebrate and preserve the rich traditions of Black culture, creativity, and collective unity! Rooted in the principles of Harambee (‘pulling together’) and Ujima (‘collective work and responsibility’), the festival began as a community-driven effort to provide a platform for Black artists, performers, and entrepreneurs to share their talents and stories. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant annual gathering that not only showcases music, dance, visual art, and spoken word but also fosters education, economic empowerment, and intergenerational connections. The festival’s history reflects a continuing commitment to honoring heritage while inspiring future generations to embrace pride, purpose, and community solidarity.
July 31 - August 1 | East Carson Street
Every Friday and Saturday night this summer, East Carson Street transforms into a massive open-street nightlife experience featuring outdoor bars, local vendors, live entertainment, food, music, and enjoying the South Side after dark.
August 1 | Butler Street, 36th – 52nd St
For one day every summer, Butler Street transforms into the a vibrant, electric block party in Pittsburgh. Artists, musicians, vendors, and the community take over 16 blocks. The Art Crawl reinforces ties in the community by bringing together the neighborhood through art and music. Artists, vendors, and musicians pair up with local businesses to line Butler Street with unique original work and live performances — creating a platform for artists to further their careers, for local shops to have a great day, and for new relationships to flourish between the public, small businesses, and artists alike.

The wait is over! Be among the first to experience Science of Speed, Powered by Lenovo, as we officially open the doors to Pittsburgh’s newest high-speed STEM adventure.
